The nvb-Cup

The nvb-Cup (named after the Nordhorner Versorgungsbetriebe, who is our main sponsor) is an International tournament which is one of the biggest events of its kind in Germany, played at a very high level.

The male teams U15, U17 and U19 of ten clubs from different countries compete against each other every year. Every age group plays its own competition. All teams can collect points through their placements. At the end, the total number of points reached by all three teams of each club determine the overall victory.

Many players, who took part in our tournaments over the last years, nowadays play in the top leagues in Europe. Colja Löffler and Johannes Selin play for “Füchse Berlin” in the 1st German Bundes League. Celim Darsoulant and Jeremy Darras play for US Dunkerque in the 1st French division. From our club there are Alex Terwolbeck, Hannes Hombrink and Mathias Poll, who play for HSG Nordhorn-Lingen in the 2nd German Bundes League.

We will certainly see many more players in the big handball scene in the future.

With about 500 players participating, as well as coaches and assistants, it is always a logistic challenge and a master performance by all the voluntary helpers.

It would be impossible for us to arrange such a handball highlight in Nordhorn without the support of our sponsors.

We are very happy to face this task in 2012 and look forward to welcoming our guests from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland.
